Gearbox

Post by Pepperami »

2.2 subaru ej22 engine.
I'm Thinking of buying a recon gearbox so a few questions.

Which gearbox would be best for the job?

Where would be the best place to buy one?

I want an Aiden Talbot rebuilt one really but i cant have my bus off the road for that long. I need to take the gearbox to the garage and just have it fitted.

Or alternativley buy a second hand one and have that rebuilt. Which would mean locating one at the right price getting it to Aiden and back and then having it fitted.

Any idea's ??? Cheers Tony.

Just had a look through Volksworld.
Remtec (remanufactured) £699
The engine shop (Exchange???) £549

It could be a second hand one option!

What code are you after?

Got a ABD with 88000 mile on it sat in my garage. It not got a bell housing and has a diesel input shaft currently fitted.
Your more than welcome to borrow it whilst you get yours reconditioned or I would sell if your interested.

It's a 10 minute job to change the input shaft back to a petrol one.

If it where me I'd buy a second hand one (not necessarily mine ) and get Aiden to rebuilt it, that way your sure its going to be right. You've invested a lot in your bus so I guess your going to be keeping it so it will be money well spent.

What ever you do your more than welcome to borrow mine

I would get a good used box and have Aidan (2 "A's" ) rebuild it... Speak to him to find out what code box will suit what you want from it...
