Have just painted the exhaust cover plates, not the exhaust itself, with black Hammerite paint to compliment the Simon Baxter supplied stainless steel exhaust on my 1990 1.6 Diesel and very nice it looks to.
Am now thinking of doing the same, painting with black smooth Hammerite paint, the back brake drums. Question is - will I have a problem about heat on the rear drums.
Any advise ?

By the time your drums have rusted through, you'll need new ones anyway - thats why no one bothers. Hammerite not suitable for drums no as they can get exceedingly hot sometimes. Not saying you can't, but a there are paints around far more suited to the job. High-temperature paint would seem better bet.
