What Haynes

Post by peteabbott »

Christmas is comming and what better present than a Haynes Manual ? Thing is what manual do I put on my wish list that covers the 1.7 KY engine. sssshhhhh don,t tell anyone its a surprise. Thanks everyone, I am sure someone on here told me once but I am having a silver haired moment.
I actually have a Pocket Manual by Peter Russek for the 1.9 and 2.1 water cooled from 1985 DG, DF, EY, GW DJ petrol if anyone can make use of it. Pity he didn,t do one for the 1.7KY as it is very informative.

Is the 1.7KY engine a Diesel? if so none of the Haynes transporter manuals cover it.

Glad you found the Russek manual good, i can't say the same for the Fiat Scudo one i have of his, just expensive toilet paper.

Yes mate it is a diesel but apparently they also fitted this engine into a car but don,t know which one, early golf or jetta I think, so if I could find out then thats the manual I need. The Russek manual is quite good actually but no good to me so is free to a good home.
Thanks for the reply mate.

De nada, some of the info they nicked from the"Bentley book" but copied it slightly wrong [like.006 instead of .0006].Its good to have more than one book so you can compare[and the "bentley"has mistakes].
Good luck.

I too am hoping for a Haynes this year. Not sure what one to hint for tho as my T25 has a VEGE engine - will that effect which Haynes I get or will the standard T25 one do?

The haynes will do , VEGE is just the company that rebuilt your engine

going back to the diesel question , get the petrol haynes , that will do for the body , running gear , brakes etc and a vw golf/passatt diesel one for the engine , and either download the bentley (do a search its there) and that will cover the diesel wiring and some of the engine

I've got the Russek T3 diesel manual and I'm not mechanically-inclined and I would say it's not particularly easy to follow. Probably alright if you know what you're doing, though. Like Mark says, get a Haynes for the petrol T3 and the Russek should fill in the diesel bits.
