Remote Central Locking

Post by TimC »

My '92 LLE has what I thought was factory central locking installed. While trying to isolate a battery discharge problem (and that's another story...) I discovered that the central locking controller is a Waeco Magic Lock ML44. Presumably this is not standard? Has anyone else got one of these installed - and, if so, is it possible to fit the Waeco MT150 Magic Touch remote system without problems?

I happen to have a generic Chinese remote system to hand. Could that be interfaced with the Waeco system? There is a spare 4-pin socket in the ML44 which is presumably there for the Waeco remote unit to plug into. I've had a look online for a wiring decode for this unit, but without success. Has anyone got one, or could link to one?

Cheers!

Have a look at www.waeco.com, there's lots of information there.

Thanks for the link! Looks like the whole original CL system has been replaced by the Waeco system, so their remote kit should be a straightforward fit - if I can get one.

I wonder if the rewiring involved in this may be the source of my battery discharging...? Having tried taking out all the fuses, disconnecting the alternator and starter motor and yet still getting an 1800 milliamp discharge rate, I'm a bit stumped with this too!
