headlight flasher

With our indicator lever it's almost impossible to flash headlights without tripping beam. Is this normal? Is there a way to fix it, or do I need a new indicator / flash switch thingy. :lol:

you mean that with headlights on you go to flash and it switches to main beam, unless you have the "knack"...... they are all like that........ answer is to switch to main and back quickly i recon....

thats why when you switch the headlights on in a row of traffic, 50% of the time you are on main beam when you switch it on, and the bloke in front loves you!!

Thanks Steve. Was hoping this wasn't the case as other vehicles seem to be easy to flash vs change beam. :cry:

Yep, mines like that, my dads was too. Pumping it to main and dip quick is the easy answer.

Theres a simple answer to this too, always go to dip before you switch the lights off. If you want to flash the lamps in the day, click it twice and it'll always be left on dip for when you put the lights on.

Or....how about the long-winded and excessive way;

Wire main beam to the horn so it will sound as long as you're on full or flashing. This way it will remind you to switch back to dip, and conversely, in the dark when you're switched to main, people will hear you coming for miles!

You laff but in years to come when everyone drives silent cars don't be surprised if they all have to drive around with lights and noises to warn people. Lights are already happening (madatory on new cars from 2011). Artifical noises is being talked about, maybe even considered by some crackpot US people so people can hear hybrids comming (as if the tyre noise wasn't a clue, thats the noisyest part of modern traffic in my mind) - it sounds stupid enough so I'm sure it'll happen one day.
