$yncro spot light operation

Post by jed the spread »

It might be me being thick here but last weekend i had a whole day on the doka and fixed all the niggling things on it that didn't work or wasn't conected when i bought it. I wired in the ebber timer, fixed the wabasto pre heater etc etc. I got round to looking at the spot and fog lights on the front of the van and know to turn the fog lamps on i have to have at least the side lights on and put the fog light switch on the first of two settings. Thing is whats got me scratching my head is how to turn the spot lights on :? there is no extra surface mounted switches on the dash and all the wiring on the van has been professionally done, give me a clue please?

Its a swedish import if this helps

Fog light s should only work when the side and dip lights are on. Spot lamps should only work when the main beams are on but there should be a kill switch for both somewhere

The switch should be on the right hand side of yr dash pod

Its a two position rocking switch......if I remember correctly st detent was front fog/driving lights and second was rear fog and front fog/driving lights on...but I stand to be corrected!!

Fogs come on with the fog lights, spots come on with main beam.
or at least they did.

If you do have front fogs, they can be used with sidelamps or headlamps.

The rear fog should only work when front fogs (if fitted) are on or headlamps (if no front fogs). Thats the standard way they are ment to work in the EU and they should function this way on a T3 - I know, I fitted fogs to mine and fitting relay 7 alows the fogs to work on sidelamps. I was actully playing with my front fogs last night in the moor top mist, they are quite useful (especally on sidelamps [dimdip on mine] as you can get rid of the headlamp backskatter leaving just nice very wide flat beam - just what you need for keeping out the ditch!)

Jed, if its been professionally fitted there should be a fuse somewhere, has it blown? There should be a relay around too for extra spots as stock wireing/switches won't handle more than stock square lamps with standard bulbs.

Fog lamps use relay 7, if you get the rear teltail lit thats working fine. Fuse 6 does the front fogs if they are wired the OEM way.

You need the key in the run position for headlamps/foglamps to work of course!

Why do they need a kill switch?

I have had a look today for a while. First of all located the relays and found power from the switch, earthed ok, but no direct power. Thanks for the operation guide its just a case of following the direct power feed and hoping an in line fuse has blown or something. I ran a feed from a spare battery and the fogs worked so its all it can be really. Oh and the white connector block from the back of the fuses had come disconnected so the rear foglights didn't work ether

bumpy green lanes for you i guess.

Why do they need a kill switch?
They need a switch to isolate each circuit.

Well, you have taught me somethign there.
Why on earth do you need 2 switches for the front fog lights when they only came from the factory with one?
Thats just seems redicularse!
