Layout advice please!

Post by Walrus »

Hello! I'm looking for some advice regarding my proposed layout for the interior of my van to make it into a camper. At the moment its a panel van with an LPG conversion. The tank is located as pictured below.

I want to add a Propex heater, leisure battery & Propane gas bottle (extra LPG tank will have to wait - too much £££)

Image

The locations above are the most convenient places to put stuff and involve the least amount of modifications to cabinets. I would like some opinions as to whether it is ok to put the Propex next to the battery, for example, or what can I do to protect against potential heat/spark/gas leak issues?

Or alternatively an underfloor leisure gas tank ... i.e. fridge, cooler and heating

The LPG tank on the diagram is already there and in place. It all works and I dont really want to mess with it! I could take it back to Gasure and get another tank/take-off etc fitted but its the money!! At some point in the future I'll go for the spare-wheel-replacement jobby.

you maybe need to look into the lpg side of things a bit more, the leisure / road fuel tanks are much higher , and likely wont fit under whatever its under now......

you will be much better off with a underfloor leisure tank

The existing tank is already fitted inside the van, in the place where the rear seat would go, with a box already around it. If/when I go for the extra tank to run the heater, fridge etc, I'll look for a spare wheel carrier mounted one. Gasure has them listed on the site.

What I really need to know right now is if there are any major issues with the placement of propex, battery & propane bottle.

there are no issues with the main roadfuel tank and the propex or the battery, however, the battery should be vented to the outside, where it will be right next to the propex exhaust, which maybe a problem with battery gasses exiting near to source of ignition.....

thats my opinion, it may or may not be valid, but i would advise looking into it
