eberspacher B5W heater : fuel supply

Hi there any one that knows about these heaters. Just tring to get my the eber B5W going. It's on a Dec92 ex finish army syncro 16". Fan comes on like a 747 Jet, glow plug warms up. Fuel pump clicks away rapidly but no fuel is delivered (if I pull pipe off nothing is coming out)

• How long does it normally take for fuel to arrive (tank is at rear because it's a syncro)?
  Is there likely to be an aditional fuel filter between the pump and the fuel tank or will it it just use the usual vehicle filter and supply. As it's a syncro with a rear mounted tank it's all pretty compact and hard to see!
  What's the best way of testing the pump?
  If I take the pump off the vehicle will it run with a 12v supply or does it need some sort of pulsed supply?
  Is it possible to fix the pumps,are there any common faults?

Pump can be checked out of vehicle with a 12v supply, nothig else needed.
The fuel supply lines should be very thin. Only about 2mm diameter inside. Any wider and the fuel will either not make it to the heater or it will take forever to get there!
It usually takes about 15 to 20 seconds for fuel to make its way through to heater but this will depend on length of pipe.
Pump should click about 4 to 5 times per second when pumping fuel through to heater and filling pipe. Will slow down 2 ot 3 clicks per second when fuel is through to heater.
Polarity of wires to heater doesnt matter, it will work either way round!
There could be a filter but I couldnt say to be honest and where the pump gets the fuel from would be a guess too! Could possibly come from a branch off after fuel filter outside of fuel tank, this is the most likely.
I don't think the pumps are fixable, they're usually sealed but as long as they 'click' they are usually ok.

the pump will have a filter on the tank end of it, you undo a 17mm nut and unscrew the pipefitting, and inside is a wire mesh filter.

look here its the wrong heater but the fuel supply info is correct
