AAZ turbo kaput

Post by skyever »

Hi I have an aaz from an audi 80 that lay in the car for a few years without running, it started easily enough though no boost and loads of black smoke- wastegate was siezed open ( a couple of mm) and turbo has play in bearings ( not touching housing ) thing is I was going to buy a new turbo but am now thinking that I could probably buy a TDI for round about the same price. The thought of wiring in the TDI does not bother me but has anybody written how to go about doing this? Dont really want to buy a turbo for an engine that may be f@@@@@
Any thoughts?
