Power steering on a 2ltr Aircooled.

Post by big red bus »

Mate of mine has a old Y plate Aircooled t25. Just put a set of porsche boxster wheels on it and now it is horrid to drive. It needs lowering and was thinking of using adjustable shocks and 50mm springs. Has any one fitted convential p/s to a 2ltr Aircooled. Pump and pipes and rack. I know rack and pipe work is no different but how about mounting the pump? any one help? Thanks :D

Yes I know about rjes electric power steering but think if we could getconventional p/s fitted it would be easier. Van was a really nice ride and steering light with standard wheels and tyres on and running standard height. Now fitted 17" boxster rims running pirelli tyres and ride and drive is terrible. Steering is really heavy at all speeds and van tends to feel like it is wondering across the road. Looks very cool though but at what cost. so you have seen p/s on an air cooled van? with all the tin ware?
