AAZ Install - Do I need this pipe?

Post by Fully Loaded Cali' »

I believe to be an oil return / breather from block, found to be split at the base where mounts to the block. I think on my JX there is no pipe but a blanking plate. Is this pipe needed or can the blanking plate be used off the JX?

(Pipe is to the right of the dip-stick)

It is a breather for the block and yes you do need it.You can get a replacement from VW for about £20.00

Russell, do you reckon it's worth adding that to any hydraulic motor thats installed at 50 degrees ? I've heard the view it helps oil flow back from the head to the sump.
