electric mirrors
I brought a pair of electric mirrors at vanfest which I've now managed to get them fitted. The mirrors are from a lhd and my van's a rhd. What I didn't realize was that the mirror wouldn't be able to be adjusted for use on a rhd. Has anyone worked out a way around this other than buying a set of rhd mirrors? Is it possible to swap the bases over?

Mine has LHD mirrors - they work, but the wiring is back to front so the controls are upside down!
E D I T: I stand corrected: they are rhd mirrors, it's only the wiring loom across the vehicle that's lhd, if you swap pins 3 and 4 of the switch plug it will be correct apparently

Manually adjusting?
The detent in the bases are located in a different position on L/H/D mirrors, as you have found out to your cost. The detent can be flattened (although it is a real shame to do this) it will need stripping to modify and take out the detent lug (you need to be pretty handy and have a few tools etc) you loose the positive feeling when it drops into the detent.
Which set did you buy? I also bought a pair of Lefties from the German family (blonde lady, husband and son) in the top hall.

Martin, I brought them from the stall across the way from the Yorkshire guys selling the sun canopies. I did purchase some captains seat of the german family. I take it it's not as simple as swapping the bases over? Bugger. I don't really want to have to start grinding things of them.
Mig do you know if there are any pictures of what is stated in the brickyard link?

Well I know it's not going to be of any comfort to you but you aren't the first or indeed the last person to be caught out by these differences.
My good friend Steve had to modify his. (nope..swapping the bases won't do) it's a real bugger given the price you undoubtedly paid for them.
