Hi guys, my wife's car is available! The auto gearbox has packed up on the 99' Audi A6 2.5 Tdi Quattro.
I was hoping one day to have our 89 VW Transporter Weekender (Our babe!) 1.9 Water-cooled to be Subaru powered....and all the other cool mods with it.
As a Plan B, Can the Audi A6 2.5 Tdi engine be fitted in the camper? Get a manual gearbox to suit...plus have the camper to fully converted to run on diesel.
I know anything is possible, but can this done without too many others problems attach to it???
Or am I wasting my here and be better off with the subaru??
Cheers
It can be done.
You'll be needing a South African bell housing, and engine cradle for starters.
Not to mention a whole host of other parts, various coolant pipes and fittings, brackets for various engine bay related stuff, a diesel fuel tank, the whole loom and accelerator pedal from the donor car etc etc.
Then you'd probably want to get your gearbox rebuilt to suit the rev range of the TDi. (the TDi rev limit is about 4000rpm)
If its 150brake then are we talking about the V6? Cos the I5's weren't 150hp.
If so then the Sa kit won't be of use.
To be honest I'd say if you have to ask if fitting something like this is doable then you probably shouldn't do it sorry

The bell housings are the same so you do need SA housing
Ghias one on BY is an I5 suited to the South African kit,but the V6 route you're looking at is a bit more of a mystery in the Uk still, compared to the the now well trod 1.9 route.
Would be good though, but lots a of work and ££
