My speedo has started flickering whilst driving along, it has about a 10mph deflection and has started making a noise.
I assume the cable to speedo unit junction is the prob.
How do I get to the back of the speedo ?
How does the dash top raised instrument cluster come off ?
cheers

Unclip the speedo cable and run some fine oil (3-in-1 stylee) down between the inner cable and it's sleeve. Ensure there's no sharp bends behind the dash pod.
Oh and DON'T give the pod shroud a really sharp tug, there's 2 recesses, it's more of a squeeze than a tug, otherwise you'll be trying to replace either the shroud OR a dash pod with no tabs left, they get brittle after 20 years sat in the British 'sunshine'

Well Ive taken of the dash cover bit, it was only clipped in on one side anyway !
Cable is a clip on type and was hanging out of the back of the speedo.
must have been a prob before as it has a tie-wrap around the clips arms.
have pushed it back on,
Will have to wait till journey home from work this afternoon to see if problem cured or not ??
Also discovered the brake fluid resevoir under there--had been wondering where it had been hiding !!!!
cheers
