Hello
as you can probably see brand new to this forum and just wanted to run something past all your vast wealth of knowledge on T25's
I'm thinking of popping a engine out of a crash damaged 2.5 AWD auto subaru legacy 52 plate. was wondering if this sounds like a good engine to "pop" in the back of the bus and whether just the engine or engine and gearbox would be usefull or even more whether the 4wd system would be worth bothering with?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give

52 plate?
4WD system? Not unless you want 5 reverse and 1 forward gears
Engine mileage? Heard it running?
Yes, these are good engines, though certain years can have head gasket problems, there are two varieties of 2.5 Subaru engines, pre and post 1999/2000 ish, read this https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=193
Starting price for a Subaru conversion parts is around £1000. There are two ways of doing it, replacement bellhousing retaining Subie clutch and starter or adapter-plate, using VW flywheel and starter..
You will thus also need either a subie manual flywheel or your VW one..
Best thing if you're serious is to get a quote for all the parts from Richard Jones (RJES Engineering), including the loom conversion... he runs a 2.5 Subaru in one of his T25s.

you can only use the engine and thats it you need either a bell housing kit or adaptor plate to mount to your current gearbox, plus all the loom to get converted plus exhaust, cooling, mounting!

That is a nice late engine, if it hasn't been damaged. SOHC
Big(ish) project though if you are not au fait with mechanics and conversions.
