Mefro group purchase - they've arrived !

Post by syncroandy »

The Mefro steel rims seem to be the best option for fitting larger than standard rims to the T3 Syncro. They are the correct offset and load rating, in contrast to the Mercedes we often use, and which are notorious for getting knocked out of shape.

I picked up a set at Vanfest from Lars, who had two sets available, and I'm kicking myself for not buying both when I had the chance. I was speaking to Lars and he suggested I could organize a group purchase, which would help lower the price, and of course share the shipping costs. I anticipate getting a pallet of five sets of five.

I don't have any firm figures yet, but the rims should be around £210 or less per set of five, plus a share of the shipping cost. He does Mefro nuts which are just like the original VW nuts, but with a 12mm ball radius to suit the Mefro rims, I guess these will be around £20 a set.

If anyone's interested please post here or PM me, if there's enough interest I'll contact Lars and get a price.

Hi Clive,

15x6" ET30 5x112mm, inner hole 66.5mm, rated at 900kg per rim.
I'll have prices once I've got sufficient interest to go back to Lars.

Need to see a piccy, but if that'll take a 215 OK, and they don't look godawful, I'm in...

What is the load rating on these rim's? As they are most commonly found on trailers and caravans,
More is less, stay pure, stay poor.

I'm definitely interested, was looking at getting a set of these and was wondering how to get them over here from europe. This solves my dilemma rather neatly!

Andy, 900kg as per previous post. Yes I believe Mefro make trailer wheels. These are just German-made steel rims of a given spec, nothing fancy. I know Syncronuts have in the past carried these but have no stock right now I think. I'm not looking to make any money on this, just help out a few mates.

I'm running 215/75/15MTs on these, no damage taken this year, whereas previously had to "correct" the mercs frequently.
These are just like the sixteen in a fifteen except they don't take the 16" centre cap perfectly, but at a pinch they are fine, Lars had them too I believe.
