sorry you can't just replace the metal pipes for plastic ones :(
the diameter is larger and the rubber hoses won't go on .
you can get away with just replacing the rotten bit with rubber hose.
I have even seen blue plastic pipe used.
ps we can carrie out the conversion to plastic pipes inc the hoses, we have done a few now and have the parts in stock :) .
but it' not the cheepest option.

Funny that !!!
I have a petrol engine and changed my metal ones for plastic with no problem.

The plastic ones a great but you need to be VERY carefull as the metal at both ends tends to rust on the inside and can cause "compression" leaks when jubilee clips are tightend.

If you need any further info, you have my number, ring me.

if old hoses are too tight a squeeze you can get hoses with different diameter at each end and bodge to engine bay pipework.
I have good sections of the old steel pipes poking into engine bay, then adapter pipes going onto the plastic pipes. I got new hoses for front end but you could do the same here, chop down the existing hoses a bit, put a good bit of the steel pipes into them (pref the ends of the steel pipe as they have a flare in them) then adapter pipe.
iirc I got the adapter pipes from halfwits or local motor factors. 38mm to 32mm or something around that size.
