oil cap

Post by hobajay »

Been driving the camper around for work as car has been in the garage, I went to check the oil this morning and realised I haven't put the oil cap back on after last time I topped it up!
The cap is lost, and I still need to drive the van all day and all week.
Will I do any damage driving around with no oil cap?! Where can I get a replacement?!

Sending this via my phone so keeping it short as possible!

You are likely to lose oil by it being blown out of the filler neck.

If you really must drive it, then a strong plastic bag firmly secured with a hose clip (or similar) may do the job.

Cheers, I tie wrapped a platic food bag over the end of it which did me for today. Have seen that just kampers do a filler neck and cap so will get that ordered. I did pop into halfords who had about 10 different kinds of cap but according to their computers none would fit the camper!

Hopefully won't be repeating that mistake...!
