Painting underway - door /front wing trim removal question
Hi,
Well the rubbing down and finding holes and making good is going well. At present I am only doing the front of the van front the doors forward.
Question - In between the windscreen and the door there is a seam which has a black trim attached. There is a bit of rust near the edges and whilst I could just mask off and clean as best I can it would be easier to remove. I have had a look and I can't deceide it it is metal or plastic and also hwo it is attached, clrimped on, or glued, or just interferance.
I don't wont to break it, any ideas?
Cheers
Martyn

Does it really matter that much - if you don't take it off you'll never know what the state is under there and compromise on the job?
Surely a bit of trim can be sorted at a later stage - get down to the nitty gritty, or is it just a blow-over, that'll need re-doing in 2 years time when the bubbles start again...
get it off, screech a rotary twist-knot brush up and down the seam to rip out what most of us can guarantee is the lurking death rot, anti-rust prime deeply and finish. If seam has 'swollen', a-r treat with it opened out and then can squueze it back together a bit before finishing

I'm sure just a normal length of gutter trim cut to size would suffice after all that's all the gowesty alternative is
Or off a good young scrapper?

I could have an airfix kit of a van if I keep taking things off
