t25 1.9DG WATERBOXER TO VAUXHALL SENATOR 3.0 ENGINE

Post by olliew23 »

I HAVE HAD MY NEW T25 FOR A WEEK NOW AND I'M ALREADY THINKING OF AN ENGINE SWAP BUT JUST NEED SOME ADVICE.

I HAVE SPOKEN TO SOMEONE WHO CLAIMS TO OF HAD A PICK UP AND PUT THE SENATOR LUMP IN IT. APPARENTLY THE ENGINE WILL DROP IN FAIRLY EASILY,THE ENGINE MOUNTS ABV NEED A BIT OF MODIFICATION AND IT SO TOLD IT WILL MATE TO THE GEARBOX WITH NO MODIFICATION REQUIRED.

HAS ANYONE ELSE SEEN OR HEARD OF THIS SWAP AS THE ENGINE AND DONOR CAR CAN BE PICKED UP FOR NEXT TO NOTHING?

BIT OF A NOVICE BUT I HAVE PLENTY OF MATES THAT ALSO LIKE TO JUMP IN AT THE DEEP END FOR A PROJECT OR TWO THAT HAD A TAD MORE EXPERTISE THAN MYSELF.

im deaf so its okay.

I HAD A SENATOR>>>BRMMMM VERY FAST, god im gettin a sore throat shouting...

If you put a big lump like that in, you will have to upgrade quite a few things..like stopping power..Dont think you can marry it straight to existing gearbox....something will will give..too much power, ratios etc...

BUT NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

Anything is possible if your pocketbook is big enough.

Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan al Nahyan AKA "Rainbow Sheikh" because he drives a different color car every day (In 1983 Mercedes stopped their production line to paint seven cars the colours of the rainbow as a wedding present) constructed the largest truck ever; a replica of a classic Dodge Power Wagon, but four times its size with four bedrooms inside. The vehicle also moves, and is reported to weigh over 50 tonnes.

This Dodge Power Wagon was featured in Jeremy Clarkson's Motorworld in mid 90's. The tailgate opens to become a deck to lounge on. Bed of truck is full height ceiling rooms. Open curtains on cab windows for full wall windows from room inside.

things you will need to DROP THE ENGINE IN are, adapter plate and input shaft, fuel injection fuel tank, full 3 litre loom, custom exhaust, custom motor mounts, cut the rear of van as the engine is a 6 cylinder and too long, raise the floor of the van as the 3 litre is taller, apart from that its easy,cj.
bought some real off roaders!!!!!!!

Sentator engine in a pick up, see here.

This one used the Vauxhall engine and gearbox mid mounted.
I doubt this engine will fit behind the VW transaxle as CJ says being a straight 6 its going to be too long for the engine bay. I can't see it having the same bolt fixing anyway.
NO PIES CAKES OR BEER LEFT IN THIS VAN OVERNIGHT.

Right cheers everyone for the advise.sounds like bloody hard work to me compared to the original explanation of oh yeah just drops in,only have to change the engine mounts. OH AND APOLOGISE FOR SHOUTING!!!!

anyway it seems i have more pressing matters ahead as unfortunately on the matter of stopping power it seems that a nearly new yaris can stop around 3-4 times faster than my poor wedge. I now need some bodywork and a new radiator!!! grrr
