drain on a water tank

Has anyone fitted a drain tap on the bottom of the fitted water tank, I thought it would be a good idea, I know the problems might be a leak but I would like to drain it out now and then and clean it.

Any idea how long the water is good for?

Its a problem for sure. The Autohomes have internal Tanks and no drain facility and even if you try and pump it theres always some left. I use purifying tablets every so often and flush it out. We use a separate container for drinking water and the on board tank is used to supply washing water,etc.

Smugly, the Villa 3 is fitted with an external drain tap, very efficient the kettle fits under to fill up and saves using electric pump to sink tap. The water will still be good in tank for at least a month (depending how clean the tank is to start with) I drain all but a small amount out after each trip and then refill externally using a filter funnel. If I need to empty completely I park on a slope! Try CAK tanks I think they can supply external taps you fit yourself.

Is it possible to have a 3/4 rock and roll bed fitted with this tank in place? I was thinking that the end panels that hold the hinges in place are right where the tank lives? does that make sense!

I lot of people have got rid of that massive tank and fitted either underslung ones or smallers ones then you get loads of storage space back!

I thought about removing mine but I use the van during the winter and the internal tank isn't at risk from freezing.
