And yes, before some bright spark posts the obvious I know it's a t25! D'hurrrr What I mean is can anyone identify it from the general look and this piccy of the interior?
Westphalia, Danbury, something else? It just says Camper on the back. Anyway it's a 1982 automatic with a slightly dodgy looking interior although the bodywork isn't bad (better than the early bay I've got mouldering on the drive!)
I love it to bits already and would like to find out a bit more about what it should look like inside (and eventually outside too). The good news is the sticky back David Hockney effect has been peeled off (nightmare underneath) and the blue stripy seat covers have revealed intact velour jobs that have come up a treat in the washing machine. Everything looks good - a new work in progress

Nice present... years of endless fun... but put that fag out!... the ash is going everywhere!... and right next to the gas taps! Thank goodness the fablon came off it was too jolly for its own good. Am envious of the recessed fridge door though, saves a lot of damage to both door and ankles!
Good luck on identification, somebody will be along in a minute with the answer... and by the way welcome

1987 VW 1.6 Turbo Diesel with Holdsworth Villa 3 Pop Top conversion circa 1990...all original and simply the best!
If you can post a picture with the cooker and sink in it I might be able to I.D it. Looks like an Autosleeper 'Trident' so far...........(nice conversion). Got any paperwork with it?
Yep! Seems to be a Trident Autosleeper allright as we've also managed to find pictures of camper conversions in the wiki that match up to what we've got.
Good news is it's already looking better now that we've removed the sticky back plastic and nasty seat covers. We've also taken up the floor (3 layers!) and put down tasteful carpet tiles and stuck all the dralon (?) covers in the washer and they've come up fine; slightly worn but not as garish. We're going to die the curtains for the moment and re-hang them with a view to making new ones next year. Cooker seems to work but we're not too sure about the fridge.
Now, next question(s). Where would we stand the best chance of finding the following:
a steering column cover;
the tarty plates that go behind the internal cab door handles;
gasket for tailgate lock ?
Also, could we possibly fit a side awning and if so what do we need to look for?
Cheers, Debby

Sorry, bigbluebullybus it can't be a Trident because Auto-Sleeper didn't use names for their campers until 'C' Reg ie. 1985/86. Prior to that they used the desigations: VT20, VX50 & VHT.
The camper you have is most likely a VHT, which is a high top.I have a VT20 which is a solid sided pop top. Iirc the VX50 is a posher version of the VT20 but the interior layout maybe different.
The VT20 became the Trooper & the VHT became the Trident but I'm not sure about the VX50. The Trooper & Trident names were used on the T4 & now the T5. The solid sided pop top on the T5 is still the same as on my beloved VT20.

That's interesting, I have "C" reg (Aug 1985) Auto sleepers high top which I have always referred to as a Trident. However I have looked over it and nowhere does it say it is a Trident!! The log book just calls it a VW Transporter. Did they start putting Trident transfers on right from the beginning?

Sid, the VW & Transporter badges are put on the panel van before it left their factory in Germany. Auto-Sleeper converted the van into a camper & applied the usual stripes & A/S logos. I don't think that they put names such as Trident or Trooper on them. This may possibly have changed in later years.
Kevtherev has an early Trident. Perhaps he can tell us if there were any Trident logos on his camper before he had it resprayed?

Autosleeper VHT then Very nice anyway. I'll post some piccies later of what we've done thus far...
Not really planning on a great deal until next year when we'll get it re-sprayed. The tasteful blue stripes have been done by hand with nice gooey paint and some masking tape and will have to be banished eventually so I'll start saving now
The main thing's going to be actually trying it out and making sure that everything works inside...

Oi ... 'sleepers have history , and some of us here in anoraks are proud of it.
mine is not a trident.. it is the last of the VHT's, as indicated by the authentication certificate.
Bye the way, on the wiki is an instruction/operation manual for an Autosleeper Trident, which is the same as yours.
and the Downloads section contains a manual for the fridge (RM212)
