Headlining and navels

Post by Molly Man »

Mrs Molly and I have just returned from a very wet weekend on the fringes of Dartmoor... so much mud we had to be towed by tractor from the field (embarrassing!)... But had plenty of time to stare at the headlining and contemplate each others navels. Headlining showing the dirt of ages and darkening in places where the air draws in from the outslde of the camper. Mrs Molly says it could do with a clean! On the Holdsworth Villa 3 this headling appears to be made of a stretchy nylon mixture with in places a foam backing for padding and comfort! Is it possible to clean it succesfully, has any other Holdsworth Villa 3 owner tackled this one at home...Ringo...Putney? Or is it a job for the professionals (Mobile Carpet/Curtain cleaners?). Mrs Molly says no more navels until its clean!

Pink!? ... mines a sort of light coffee colour and its a sort of 'velour' not hessian ... although pink hessian sounds quite exotic ... it would match my eyes! And yes it is darkened in places... so Andy, do you or does anyone have the answer to cleaning it...help!

"aparently holdsworth used a not so good type of glue that run when it got hot and stained the headlinign it isnt air being induced as its solid metal above there with no air ducts

ive tried a type of all purpose clenaer this worked well but made the headlinnign go fuzzy:(

I used to clean the exterior vinyl cloth hood of my Morris Minor Convertible with Decasol, it was magic... but its a pink jelly, which has to be washed off! The interior headlining on the Villa 3 is a velour/nylon material stretched over foam padding, anything wet will just soak in unless it can be removed almost immediately!... so I am coming to the conclusion that a professional steam clean, like what they do to curtains still hanging up is the only answer... anyone ever had the interior professionally cleaned? The material headlining on a Villa 3 goes right through there is no vinyl bit. Help!
