Khyam ... 4 berths good, 2 berths bad!

Post by T-3PO »

Before departing with our hard earned dosh on yet another awning, had a JK Timewaster before, initially thought it was the bees knees ... the first time it rained it showed just how carp it really was! :x ... anyway, we've been looking at the Khyam Motordome Sleeper but are getting some conflicting info about it, basically is it 2 or 4 berth ... or is it 4 at a squeeze?? ... or do two go in the inner tent and the others sleep in the main awning section?

If you look at the Khyam website the graphic dimensions show 2 berths, the spec shows 4? Having checked a few websites, campershop.co.uk says 4, outdoormegastore.co.uk says 2 etc etc etc so we finally sent an email off to campingworld.co.uk who say
I have just checked with our specialist and he says that it is a two birth only.
yet even there own website contradicts itself by saying
it has the benefits of an awning but with the convenience of have a 2 berth inner tent. Allowing 4 adults to sleep comfortably
What we'd really like is words from someone who actually owns one of these on how many they can sleep inside it. Our initial aim is to sleep 3 in the inner tent (as we did in the JK) 1 double airbed for us and junior (18months old) in his bed a the top of our heads but as time goes by the family might expand  and I really don't want to buy yet another awning!

Ta in advance

Mike

We have the motordome sleeper. You can sleep 4 in ours. One word of warning we've had a joint snap as have others on this forum, if you do a search on Khyam, you should come across the post.

Sorry for the short answer, we're just off to a restorer to find out if the van is repairable.

No you're quite right there isn't. We had the one that you mentioned in your first post prior to this. Absolute rubbish. Khyam just need to look at this knuckle snapping problem.

Always had Khyam tents in the past an now of the Motordome, and it's been really good. Our's is up for sale soon though as we really want the one with the additional bedroom pod (sleeper) for a bit more space.

Had no problems at all, 5 minutes and it's all setup (or put away) !

If you want to imagine the size of the two sleeping compartments in the Kyham Motordome, we use two double inflatable mattresses in ours, so it is 4 person, but it is a narrow 4 person, because those air beds are not very wide. But hey, you are camping!!! They fit plus a few inch's.

We have spent a month in ours, 7 weeks if you include using it to paint things in, in the garden. No problems, no tears, no rips, splits, nothing, as new.
