what number is on the control panel?
depends on a few things, like who fitted the leisure battery, if anyone did?
also depends on whats been done since........
generally, the car/van switch switches between the battery you are using, most only work in one position - from the leisure battery.
the aux switch will mostly switch on sockets for say tv point, or phone charging.
need mor einfo really........ my leisuredrive has a cp400 control panel, 1990 vintage, and is just that, a control panel, not a charging unit or main power distribution unit, just switches on a ally plate basically!

switches ?
hi Steve,i have same panel as you and also a large switch with a green light at bottom/red at top mounted to right of panel. When i switch upwards red flashes, when switched down green comes on for split second then goes off. When van running green light stays on when switch in central pos..and again red flashes in upward pos/green flashes slit second in down pos.I dont know who fitted leisure/van batteries but look very much professionaly fitted(wiring etc/2 large matching batteries). All i know the van is very original since conversion..only 2 pre owners/60k....Cheers Mark

From what I have seen some vans have a switch just for the fridge for running it when driving, most of the time they just say 12v or somthing. thats my guess. Picture would be helpful if you can!
E D I T: both batterys should charge when driving, under the drivers seat will be the spilt charge relay and there should be a inline fuse coming off the positve on the side of each battery (It might be tucked down the sides of the batterys , it should look like the one below but yours might not have the cover.)
E D I T E D I T: You don't need to use any of the switches on the zig unit for charging, It's all done by the magic relay under yer seat!

in my original leisuredrive camper (I had it 11 years- just breaking it now) the fridge was originally the smaller 2 way, and the 12v operated via a switch on the dash, above left knee, which switched the fridge relay (under drivers seat ) on........ the one i have now, the fridge is a much newer dometic 3 way, and all the switching is done on the front panel of the fridge.........
i completely rewired the 12v electrics when i got it, but basically the control panle just operated the lighting and fridge ignitor and tap via its switches, the car/off/van switch was only wired in the car position, powered by the leisure battery .
i have left it this way after my re-wire, because i have added a main isolator switch at the back of the driver seat to switch everything from leisure battery in the back off / on in one go. Because it is my only vehicle, my daily driver so to speak, in the winter i dont want or need most of the stuff that runs off the leisure battery, so i have also made the split charge switchable, so i can stop the leisure battery getting any charge unless it needs it, giving the main battery all of the charge on those short communtes with wipers heater lights and everything on , so my battery stand up to the challenge better.....
i also built in a intelegent charger and PSU so when i am hooked up to mains the batterys are charged automatically, and the 12v system is powered from the PSU and not the battery......
so, your mystery switch could be the signal to the fridge relay, or it might be to switch the split charge off.......... 10 mins with amultimeter will tell you what it does........

Well that is a sore point with me. I just came back from a Boat rally where one of our members was living in one of these £40/60 campers with the settee and all. They were siting in the dark as they couldn't work out what the panel was supposed to be doing. I punched a few buttons and pressed a few switches and deduced the Liesure battery was flat in spite of "his man" claiming to have charged it before the trip. This gold and brown anodised panel had not the slightest indication as to the operation of the various controls plus an orange light with no legend was flashing on and off. Poo for brains design if you ask me!
