1.9DG PETROL - WHICH COOLANT/ANTIFREEZE ?

Post by specialshoe »

I heard a rumor that really only VW own brand antifreeze should be used in the 1.9 watercooled motor.

Is this true or just a rumor?

I was going to use whatever antifreeze the local Motor Factors have at a 40% mix.

Anybody shed any light on this ?

Thanks

I Think if you have a look at the wiki at the top of the main page, there is quite a bit of info. on this, :)

I put some Halfords stuff in the otherday, it showed on the back that it was suitable and upto Audi and VW standards for G12 spec as per Wiki.

If your draining and refilling best to not cut corners and use VW G12+. It doesn't cost much and will do the best job.

You'll need to buy 4.5 liters for a full drain and flush. There are really good instructions for doing this on the wiki.
