My speedo has the shakes...

Post by dirtyroger »

Yo yo,

My speedo seems to have a nervous twitch untill i reach speeds of over 40mph, then its quite steady. Do you think it would it be time for a new speedo cable?

Thanks

Our does this as well!

I was told that a kink in the cable creates this effect - wasn't able to find a kink though so might try the oil solution next!

No, seems rarely to be the cable, worth trying, but think its usually the connection the speedo head (re-make) or the head itself, more annoying than one would think

Mine wobbles abit, It's the connection on the back of mine that isnt the best...and if you hit a pot hole hard sometimes it falls out  and registers 0mph

thats the fun about these vans, i got pulled by the fuzz and they asked me what speed did i think i was doing in a 30mph zone that the last time i went down it was 40mph, i said well anything between 30 and 45 coz of the speedo bounce!!!!

Mine too. Someone suggested a soaking of WD40 where the cable meets the back of the speedo, so I'll let you know how it works.  8)
