Boot safety Thingy

Post by tezandkate1 »

Hi out There
Has anybody ever seen a safety device that prevents the ridiculous pile of stuff in the "boot" from flying into the rear seats. Sort of lake jail bars. I would also like one that is easily removed / collaplsed as to make the "boot" useable as a secure cot / cage for the nipper. I should add its a devon conversion poptop, so the little darling will be quite snug.

Otherwise, I shall have to make one. any ideas?

We have a Dog Guard that removes by just twisting the legs of it and it then collapses/adjusts.

Try local motor factors, my local one had a paddy hopkirk dog guard thingy a year or two back, only cost about £20, halfords wanted £30 or thereabouts at the time for the exactly the same thing!

We have an RAC one we use funnily for the dogs, I expect it would work well as you can adjust the sides to fit and it's cage framed rather than bar guard. :D

Yep thats the one we got, only way to keep the Staffy back there, if it had bars she would probably chew through them :D

Cheers all, ill have a shop round. Are any of them adjustable / removeable from the van interior side, to get access from where the seat is? Or put his food bowl in?

The RAC has 2 panels either side that slides on clips so that would work. I have just cable tied mine as with "Bertha" the Accord as it's slopes quite a bit I wanted a snug fit so I lowered the sides so my cats couldn't get in to annoy the wuffs.

Boot safety Thingy

Post by toolsntat »

Hi there,we use sections from those adjustable "one size fits all" fire guards which can be clipped together to form a range of sizes. They can be picked up from "boot sales" for a couple of quid!!
Its easier if you use more than one guard.
I have one of those extendable tubular dog guards here that you can have for nowt if you can get to pick it up, but I don`t know as they are big enough for a camper (not fitted it in the camper before).

Hi
Sounds interesting, though im in Hampshire. How did you fix the fire guard? The back of my seat is 38cm high and its 86 to the underside of thr cupboard where it would have to fit to. im thinking of the tubular guard now.

Hi Terry, the parts of the fireguards are not fixed to the van as such, but by clipping them together with the spring clips you are able to make up various sizes of cage with doors, floors and even tops if needed.
Please call me if you would like more info!!
Will send message with Tel No
