I bought a set of new roof struts and fitted them, all ok, roof goes up a LOT easier now.
BUT... the middle one... does it have a wheel on the bottom end or something to run in the channel? The strut itself just has a hole like at the top and like the end ones, and the channel is just... a channel! It will just sit in it and work, but I get the impression it should have something like a wheel to run on.

I'm being really non technical here now! Ours has got a piece of cylindrical shaped plastic cut to the width of the channel. The plastic looks very similar to the glue that you would use in a hot glue gun - knowing previous bodges, it probably is!
Thanks Bev, knew I could rely on you Yeah that was sort of my idea too, but The Garage (dum dum DUM!) says it should be a wheel of some sort to run along the channel. I thought a short piece of metal rod would do the trick, or plastic as you say, if I can get hold of something.
I have to say it's an awful lot easier to lift now, and that middle strut stops it banging down as well as giving me a chance to climb onto the passenger side wheel arch without having to lift at the same time! Although I quite miss the 'Whoosh' it used to make coming down...

Yeah it does make it easier to put it up and down - I can do it myself now, it was far too heavy before. Plus I don't have to stand on a step to tuck the canvas away hehehehehe I'm not a short a*** like my husband.
