newbie questions on door panel, wheels and seat subframes.

Post by aardvark »

Hi folks, great site, just got one and trying to sort out some bits and pieces. A couple of questions on the above.

I have couple of sets of alloys from audi 80 with great tyres, these are 14's....the tyres wont be rated to fit the van but is it possible to fit the alloys with the existing van tyres and if so can anyone tell me which mods if any.

Second question, the bottom corner of the sliding door has a wee bit rust on it but the outer skin at this point has come away from the fram or inner....is there a bottom panel the full length that fits, where can I get one (decent quality) and what would be a reasonable price to fit professionally without paint.

Last question....can a universal seat subframe be used on any seat and then put in the van

Sorry for all the questions and no answers, hopefully as time passes I will be able to contribute more

oooooooops I think I have put this in the wrong place.. if any one can tell me how to move that would be great

Dear aardvark,,,,,,your alloy wheels should be OK to fit to your van just double check the centre hole diameter is at least 66mm and make sure the wheel nuts/bolts you are to use are correct for the alloy wheels,,,,,,.

Aftermarket repair panels are available from most decent parts suppilers for the sliding door for both the outter skin (fits half way to swage line) and the inner support panel , quality is OK but you will have to sand these panels to bare metal due to the rubbish coating they use and it being porous.
Cost to fit with out paint may run into £150+Vat and should take about 4 hours to complete.

Seat Frames,,,,,,,,the only seats I have found which have identical width spacing as your T25 came from the Escort Mk 3,4+5. , These will allow you to bolt your vans runners to straight to them.
Some small mods will have to be made to the plastic side sections of the Escort seats to get them to fit with the VW runners.

Hi Fritz, thats some bad outfit you have on there, obviously not the office outfit you normally wear...I hope. Thanks for the response, after initial excitement, went to the garage to dig out the alloys.....two sets of audi alloys with split new tyres and all four stud........so need to get rid of these.
As for the escort seats...does this include the recarros found on more expensive models, ghia, rs and turbo or just the bog standard ones?

Many Thanks

Whey Hey,,,,,,good point about the 4 stud/5 stud detail,,,

I can't be sure about the Ricarro seats as fitted to the RS Turbo/Ghia models but I would not be suprised if they were the same width as the standard Foord seats.
