Water light - T25 1.9DG

Post by sussex_yellow »

Im looking for a bit of advice on a water guage light. Im hoping this is just electrical !

Essentially I have a water cooled 1.9DG engine in my T25 Komet. The water light comes on (more times than not) and flashes constantly. Ive been told its electrical but need confirmation from someone that might know !

Any ideas ?

this has been covered a few times..........

ok, the red flashing led does two jobs........

over temp warning - if its too hot

low coolant warning - if there isnt enough coolant

either way it means STOP! thats why it is there.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So when yours started to flash, you looked at the guage and it wasnt almost in the red, so you popped down the noisey end, looked in the engine cupboard, and checked the water level....you did , didnt you?

and all was well, the header tank was full to the brim, the top up tank was up to the relevent mark for the engine temp.........

so yes, you may have a sender malfunction, or a wire issue.....

join the two pins of the plug on top of the header tank sender together the light goes out?

sender kurfurlted, buy a new one.

light not going out, its either a wire from front to back,, or one if its connections, or the dash connector (give it a wiggle, its above your right knee when you are sat sitting in the drivers seat, reach up)

Wahhhooooo!

Fixed it......I think.

Did everything people said but didnt quite work. So...........what I did was checked the sender unit by taking it out of the header tank. As someone had said it was pretty gunked up.

Cleaned it with water and some of that green stracthy stuff - I think they use it to do pots and pans !!!!

Put it back in started her up and hey presto no light !

Pretty bloody chuffed with myself but I couldnt have done it without the guidence of all you people out there. Cheers. I'll buy you a beer sometime.
