Split Charging Relay

Post by windysurfer »

I'm in the process of changing my 240v fridge to a 3 way fridge.

I currently have a split charge relay fitted to charge the leisure battery.

I have just bought a "Combi Master" split charge relay, which is really for use with a trailer socket, but I'm a bit unsure of the wiring.

It has 6 connectors numbered 6 to 11

6 - H/Duty 12v
7- Earth
8 - 12v Ign
9 - Fridge 12s
10- Batt Tr 12s
11 - Batt Chg

I've read the distructions but just want to make sure I've git it right before I start.

6- 12v + on van battery
7- earth
8 - can I use the blue wire which come from the alternator currently used on my exsisting set up?
9 - to fridge
10 - don't think I need it ( for battery in trailer in instructions)
11 - to my lesuire battery

does this sound right?

cheers

Gaz

just had a look how my current relay is wired up and noticed it has 5 pins on it.

Checked the 5th unused one and I get 12v when the engine is running.

Result :D

Now to sort out the gas supply

you need
12v supply from MAIN battery
12v signal from blue wire from alternator
12v feed to fridge
-12vdc (neg) from vehicle body or battery

fridges shouldnt be connected to leisure battery, or their power is 3rd hand.....
