Hi ,
i recently picked up an '87 panel van from FLEABAY with no engine or box for pennys !!!! Just cant resist a challenge.

I have spent a while checking out the WIKI for engine swaps and so far only the 1.9 TDi has caught my eye.
Must i run the factory style gearbox ?
I would prefer to run a TD but am open to suggestions.
Any suggestions greatfully appreciated as my knowledge of VW is poor.

The vans intended use will be a mobile speaker box with 16+ subwoofers and lots of amps and batteries and will not be a daily driver.
I will be running 18" wheels as i have 2 spare sets.
