Just got back from work - the van is making a horrible rattling/vibration noise. I havent had chance to have a look yet (too tired) but it have a feeling i might need to put my spare gear box in.
Is it a difficult job? Any special tools needed? Any top tips?
Hopefully its just something come loose - but you never know...
Thanks guys,
Ringo

the biggest stumbling block is the drive shaft bolts, clean the inner of the heads as well as you can, the better you clean them the less likely you are to round one off, other than that, watch your clutch hydrolic pipe, they become brittle and you dont want to be doing that job as well.
other than that, its simple stuff, just awkward if it decides to be a unlined up little git on the refit......
if you havent already, weld the nuts for the slave cylinder bolts to the bracket, makes life soooo much easier in the long run

It means that in future you can just unscrew the bolts without juggling nuts ... the bolts are usually underneath and you drop them and then need to develope deformed fingers to hold them etc etc.
If you need any help shout (07792 1 16458) my gearbox was called the hokey kokey (in out in out and shaking it all about) before this one finally went in.
The hex type CV bolts are 6mm and a long series one helps to reach easily, make your to clear the head out and then tap the hex driver home .... we don't want any cheesy head moments now do we !
Have fun, Ian.

Well me and James had a look and it looks like its not the gear box as such - its the gear linkages rattling against the chassis. God knows why (i need to get it on the ramps to have a proper look). Maybe a worn bush or something...
Thanks for all the help - and thanks for coming round James....
