hi im after some advice (or a jx flywheel).......
i bought a van with a bodged aaz conversion that had self destructed (i have read plenty about this)..
i am changing the cambelt on the aaz i have bought, but am having trouble finding crank tdc, because the aaz has the timing mark on the flywheel in the position for the golf gearbox tdc inspection cover... arghhh...
the pulleys have moved so i cant just put another belt on unfortunatly..
i have looked through the forums but still i cant seem to fathom it out.
i have a jx clutch pressure plate with the timing mark on it, but it wont fit onto the aaz flywheel..
is there any way (like counting flywheel teeth from the tdc mark meant for the golf gearbox) i can use the aaz flywheel and paint a tdc mark on?
i have tried an injector out to try and feel tdc, but there seems to be a combustion chamber on the aaz...
i hope someone can help,
thanks

I am currently nearing the completion of a 1.6T/D to a 1.9T/D AAZ conversion, I was under the impression that the 1.6 Flywheel and clutch assembly HAD to be used. I have changed my AAZ to this set up and all timing marks appear to be correct, although I have not installed the engine as yet ( this weekends job I hope !)
