By the thermostat housing I believe.

I found it easier to get under the van at the rear and look up to see it.

You checked the connections at the rear of the dash clocks. Making sure they are making contact with pcb?

My temp needle does not move for about 10 mins after start up. I know a lot of people make this mistake as new cars temp needles move straight up when switched on

Yeah desperado is right there is one on the thermostat housing, and there is another sensor for coolant on the expansion tank.
My van also takes along time for it to register 'correct' temperature, usually around a few miles of driving.
I imagine that it is not overheating though? and coolant is moving around the engine? Just the needle is plain lazy?
I'd say have a looks at the dash first as when i got my van someone had put a different clock housing on and it had different wiring for whatever used to be there, so a few things were not working.

possibly goosed sender then. Cheap as chips to buy, fit a new o ring seal as well though. I managed to replace mine without draining too. Did leak a bit when swopping over. Remember to wear some goggles too when your under the van as if it leaks it can get in your eyes. Nasty!!

Managed to bleed it too just buy moving the sender unit around a little to release the air.
