Have i done this Right????

Post by woodola »

Hi I'm a newbie, I wonder if anyone could help me? Just lowered my camper, with new springs and shocks. When i removed the old ones there was a rubber sleeve over the shock on the front, do these have to be put over the new shocks when fitted. sorry to be a dumbo but never done this before. would be gratefull for any help, oh and do you have to torque the bolts? :? :?

Yeah, these should be fitted as the bump-stop is incorporated into these and prevent the shock from stopping the van from moving downwards too far when suspension is being compressed. Without these the shock could be damaged.

Bolts etc should be torqued:-
Upper mounting:- 30Nm
Lower mounting:- 150Nm

Hope this helps... :D

Also serves to prevent grit/sand/crap etc prematurely wearing out the damper rod and damaging the main seal.
