Carrying passengers with a RnR bed?

Post by Poseidon »

Hi,

I'm looking at fitting a full width rock and roll bed to my panel van, obviously for sleeping on, but it would also be handy to carry passagners ocasionally..

Does anyone know what the legal requiements are on this? I would like to fit seatbelts as safety is always important. Any info on this would be great. I'm off to the Just Kampers open day tomorrow and may be tempted to get one...

Cheers

Hi everyone,

The UK seat belt regulations are on this page:-

http://www.ukmotorhomes.net/faqs.shtml#seatbelts

However, with the EU Seat Belt Wearing Directive due to come into force next year means the following:-

- If any rear or side facing seat belts were fitted in your campervan, then you will be prohibited from carrying more passengers than the number of seatbelts available

- If there are no rear seat belts then you will be allowed to carry rear seat passengers without seat betls.
