T25 - no synchro from 4th to 3rd

1987 T25 1.6 tdi...
Although all gears work normally changing up from 1st to 4th, I've always had to double declutch when changing down from top to 3rd, even at very slow speed (though not from 3rd to 2nd). But the other day someone told me that I shouldn't have to double declutch at all.... Is that so?

No you shouldnt... either the synchro ring is worn out or its possible the synchro hub or even gear has broken..

Would be worth giving Aidan a call to see what he suggests..
