jx engine

Post by MartT »

i'm sure this has been asked before, but my 'search' ability hasn't turned anything up...

Was the JX (1.6td) engine used in another car? Have seen many posts about the 1.9 aaz, but was hoping to look out for an MOT'd donor car with the 1.6td jx unit.

Thanks
Martin

Simon Baxter is correct. Other VW's of the era had a 1600 cc turbo (don't ask me about the codes now) but the main difference between those and the JX is the slant at which they were mounted into the vans (upright in other cars)

So the JX got a different oil sump, a cylinder head without the hydraulic tappets and afaik the forced internal oil cooling of the pistons via oil jet is also JX specific (but I'm not certain on that one)
