Clutch slave bleed nipple

Post by Ian and Lins »

Need to put in a new master cylinder and will need to loosen off the slave bleed nipple. Crap 7mm spanner (I know, never buy cheap spanners) started to round off the flats. Can't get a full hex socket on. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ian :?
Are we going on anything else?

can't remember if there's enough room in there but you could possibly try a set of stihlsons/pipe wrench, would have to be done carefully or nipple could snap though. I got a 6" set from b&q, find them very handy.
When it stops making that noise I'll be worried. That means it's fallen off.

Try and use an A/F equivalent spanner over the damaged flats. I think 1/4" A/F is about 6.4mm so you might just be able to carefully tap the spanner on.

Maybe try slightly tightening the nipple first to release the threads.

Carefully does it though

I`d buy a new slave cylinder and replace both at the same time, they arn`t to expensive, and that nipple will cause you untold misery trying to undo it :(
Keep it real.
