Big Syncro Door Mirrors
I Fancy putting some large syncro door mirrors on my 1980 T25 and wondered if anyone else has done this.

not in chrome
i have some genuine syncro arms & mirrors on my 2wd camper that are good so i can see all around the van on the motorway when driving on weekends away etc etc. They stick out quite away and can easily get bashed off if you were to for instance drive round London over endless speed bumps etc etc, were ironically enough that is were my syncro comes into its own. I have opted for LT mirror arms on the syncro as they don't stick out as far and i have fitted adjustable convex mirrors to take away that awkward Lt mirror look.
look on the wiki for more details. I think Sevey had some syncro ones for sale if you want to pm him.

T3 mirrors fit streight on with only drilling the top mount holes, LT ones don't I think as the bottem hole spacing is slightly different?
awkward Lt mirror look? The T3 mirrors pictured on the link has the proper late LT mirror heads (only the frame is a T3 spacific part) as they should, think they look good! They won't stand vertical on LT frames though so you'd need an earlyer style mirror head that alows it to swivel a bit if you want vertical mirror heads. T3 frames stay well away from opening quaterlights too - quite simply they are subtly tweeked in a few ways to fit the T3 better.
Never had a problem with my truck mirrors hitting anything, maybe because on a syncro with the extra ride height they sit above most van mirror heights so don't meet - have to watch the 4-7 tonners though. Another great feature is after you've folded them in you can fold them back out to exactly the same place - quite useful for the passengers side which can take ages to set on those silly standard mirrors (joke mirrors I call them) if you don't have an assistant.
If you like CB's they make good areal mounts too.

You can remove and shorten the bottom horizontal tube to make them sit more upright, refit and put the dowel pin back in.
Be very careful you fit them without stressing the bottom joint, as this is where the quick position detent locking comes from, if they screw on slightly stressed the cam doesn't sit in the detent properly and they are either stiff to move or will blow back (Seen someone's (Jakes) with bungy attached to stop this, evidently same problem)
e.g. when bottom screwed on, top bracket shouldn't have to be pushed or pulled into position much.
I tend to get a back reflection of my speedo in driverside mirror at night, need a shroud.

LT arms have a different shape then syncro arms. Lt's are also about 3" shorter on top. Wiki has some pics of syncro vs Lt arms. Take a look. I have modified LT arms on my T3. Removed pin and bottom bracket, shortened bottom arm 61mm and reassembled. Like Harry says, are almost vertical now. I didn't drill the pin hole until after mounting them to be sure fold back worked properly with no binding.
Also made full size drawing/tracing of arms with brackets. If anyone needs them, let me know and I can scan it in a couple of pages in .pdf and email.

I'm sure that would be useful to many both now and in the future, pehaps it could be suitable for Wiki entry?
