Stalling when hot!

Post by lidders »

As the title says my 1987 Hi top 1.9 DG stalls when hot.

If you drive anywhere it runs like a dream as soon as you come to a halt it stops and without a lot of throttle it won't start.

I am guessing some sort of fuel evaporation with the heat, as it is fine on a journey less than 10 minutes or if you start it from cold it will run for a very long time on tick over.

Last year the engine was taken out and the clutch / exhaust and other stuff was changed.

Since putting it back in it has had this problem.

I have checked all the lines, cables and all seem to be in the right places. I have also replaced the fuel filter.

Can anyone help?

I had a similar problem on an Aircooled bus. It was a small air leak on the inlet manifold. When it got hot the gap would open, it would not restart. If you take the bus for a run untilll its up to full temp, stop leave the engine running open the lid. Spray WD40 over the inlet manifold where it joins the cylinder head. if there is any change in the engine 'note' you have an air leak.
I was washing the car, when it fell off!!!!!!
