another fridge poser
i recently decided to bin my fridge as it seemed to be gas only its an electrolux rm122 i think. when i took it out there seemed to be a 12v heater element next to the gas heater thingy so i connected up a 12v supply and hey presto ice in the tray and a nice cool fridge. 2 questions what size wire do i need to feed it and why are there only gas controls on the front of the fridge?any help much appreciated thanks, tezza

I have a RM122 as well, as you correctly state there are no 12v controls on the front.
Mine came with a ciggy type fitting which is obviously designed to be plugged into a standard socket when on the move, you will need to fit a seperate feed for the 12v which only works when the motor is running (same as a split charge system) so that you don't drain the leisure battery.
As for cable i used 4mm because that's what i had available at the time, it may be a bit of an over kill but i always work on the old addage that you can never use too thick wire.
I also wired in an isolator so i can turn the 12v off all together but this isn't vital as long as the split charge is working correctly.
