Fridge questions

Post by Donald360 »

I am smartening up my 1985 high top Kamper. I have put in tidier cupboards, but now have a problem as the 'hole' for the fridge vent is now in the wrong place.

First, is it possible/safe to use a flexible pipe for the exhaust vent from the fridge? I'm thinking of something like the flexi exhaust pipe that gets used with Ebber heaters. The hole is only a couple of inches out so it is a slight bend, not 90 degrees or anything.

Now, does anyone here happen to have a spare bit of this type of pipe? I checked at my local automotive parts supplier and they can get me one a meter long for £35, which is more than I need and far too expensive!

Next question(s). The old (and smelly) Electrolux fridge (model 122B ?) seems to run on both gas and 12v as there is a pair of wires go into the vertical column thing. If it ran on 240v would there be another seperate set of wires? Anyway, I have picked up an old gas only fridge (112A1) which is a bit less smelly, and I was wondering if it is possible to convert it to 12v as well? I notice that there is a wee cover that can be removed from the side of the insulated vertical bit. Maybe it is possible to fit a 12v element in there??

Or should I just bite the bullet and fork out for a new fridge? Sigh.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Donald.

hi donald,

we've just 'plummed' our fridge in using ebber flexi pipe (see here https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... 23&start=0 )

I bought it from a guy on ebay, but if you phone him & tell him what size pipe you need he'll send you as much as you need.

as for your other :?: sorry, dunno

Thanks for the info. Think I might just keep my eyes open for a better fridge.

Cheers,
Donald.
