I was just after a little info on the engine i have fitted to my van

It's a 1982

1900cc

Engine No DG13

Just after a little info like is it watercooled and stuff, (I been arguing wih my mate)

Cheers for any info you guys can give.
Currently in German and hoping to get into the VW scene

you dont know if your van is air or water cooled...blimey.... :shock:

The biggest clue to tell wether it's an Aircooled or a watercooled is the following:-

- Aircooled vans only have the fresh air vent grille inbetween the headlights

- Watercooled vans have a radiator grille just above the front bumper in addition to the fresh air vent grille

or at least they dont have a hole behind the lower grill.ive seen a few aircolds with a bottom grill.put there for show...

Step 1. go round back of vehicle
step 2, open open tailgate
step 3, open engine cover
step 4, look at engine... lots of pipes running all over with a couple of tanks with fluid in them? and can easily see the road/drive/grass etc below? If yes its watercooled.....

IIRC, 1982 is too early for it to be a factory 1.9 wbx, but it could be an early diesel converted to petrol (the non turbo d was slow)
