Leisure Battery - can i connect normal plugs in van to it

Post by prosepkr »

I bought a van off someone and have decided to do it up myself, after removing all the inners I have found that the wiring is in chaos, I went away travelling in it for 3 months, and since coming back have decided to try and find out how to connect the plugs to the leisure battery.
There are wires which seem like they should be connected but I'm not sure, I don't want to re-connect them and find that it drains the battery every time, the leisure battery is connected to the main battery to charge it, I'm just wondering how or if it is possible to connect it up.

May I suggest you have it rewired by someone who know's what they're doing .... safety first !!

Take a minute to fill your profile in and someone local may be willing to help ... in exchange for beer, donuts or even real money.

Ian.

there are two types of leccy

AC (at home with plugs)

DC (batteries in cars and stuff))

they don't like each other and should never meet.

after asking that question... I would suggest you find an electrician

I have several wires leading to to the leisure battery that have been disconnected in the past to make way for a split charge system, I found the section in Wiki very helpful and rewired it myself.

we only manage two days and one night at a time?

what sort of sockets are they? two pin boat types or three pin house types? perhaps it used to have an electrical hookup?
