dave,

this will depend on the wheels. if it's a factory MB wheel, it's a good bet the lugholes are drilled for 12mm bolts. your typical t25 has 14mm bolts up front and 14mm studs in back. you have to make the lugholes bigger. after market wheels are frequently drilled for both size bolts so those won't need any modifications. you shouldn't need spacers as long as the wheels are no wider than 7". factory carat alloys are 6" wide at ET30. an 7" wheel at ET31 would stick inward 13.7mm inwards and 12.7mm outward. in other words, spacers not necessary.

Dave,

If you can use a 60 degree countersink bit to change the lugseats from ball shape to conical shape and also make the holes big enough for 14mm bolts and nuts, you will not need longer studs and bolts. The conical seat lucgnuts and bolts can "reach in" further to get the requisite 7.5 turns for full eagagement as VW specifies.

You'll need lugnuts like these then. The one to the right is a VW factory alloy wheel lugnut as seen on Carats.

Lugnuts for steel wheels look like these:

Of course, you would need bolts like these:

Remember the hole needs to be slightly bigger than 14mm.

Cheers,

merc alloys

Hi guys, also remember that Mercedes used many different foundries to manufacture their "factory" rims. So you can easily have 2 sets of appearently identical 8 hole alloys with a different thickness of metal in the centre, and thus needing different lenght bolts.
