A Local body shop that is two minutes away from where I work so I could pop in every day and keep an eye what was going on - they are called Brixham Garage in Paignton.

Mikey - would be great to see some pics of your van.

Stefvan - Yeah they did a good job. Not much welding needed. The lower middle panel on the drivers side (under the fridge vent) needed cutting out a d new one put in and the stair wells needed to be cut out and put in. Other than that just some minor parts on the tailgate and the front doors - and of course the seams needed some work. All in all the van was pretty solid. It's just the previous re-spray job done by the previous owner (in British Racing Green) was a crap job. The paintwork was all orange peel and the front had all cracked and opened up which looked really bad. I also hated the different colour high top plus since I saw the new Beetles in Harvest Moon Beige I always wanted it changed to that.

They did a very good job - Total of £1450 for the spray job which included re-spraying the bumpers and grills back to black and having the steel wheels colour coded - £300 to get the panels cut out and re-welded ( I had that done at the start of the year) - £80 for all new set of seals - £300 for the white wall tyres (which I am having problems with - see my other post https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.p ... white+wall )

So all in all not too bad - Total of £2130.

Swili,

We are also having welding, footstep, and rear corners done but not a complete respray as above the coachstripe isn't bad at all.

Would be interested to see any pics of the fridge lower panel replacement/repair - ours has been postponed to later this year.

timthetrader - great minds indeed - love the van! what colour is that? Looks slightly darker than mine in the pics?

Mikey9 - Just been looking at the pics. I must say that mine was not in as bad a way as yours (not bragging or anything) but there were signs of rust in all of the same places as yours. The previous owner had it re-sprayed to British Racing Green in 1999 so I guess that held it off for a little longer. Still, it will be worth it when you get yours back!

This is the only pic I have showing the lower fridge panel:

You can se the metal section below the green. They cut along the ridge and put a new one in. As I said I had this done about 6 months before the re-spray so I had hand painted it green to protect it (which I guess the bodyshop hated as they had to take it completely off - must have put it in too thick!!)

The outside of the pane;l was not too bad but the rust had gone right up inside and had stared to make the panel bulge out!

Anyway - keep the pics coming - I would love to see your van when it is complete!
