Will the van fail it's MOT because of this shock absorber?
Will it fail or just get an advisement as there are no oil leaks and the van doesn't bounce (which is surprising seeing as the shocks are originals and 23 years old)
Bought our van last July with the shock in that condition so it must have passed it's last MOT in the same condition. Just need to know if it will pass as getting the van MOT'd before having to pay to get the shocks changed will be a big help as Tax is due soon too
Why not go to your MOT garage & ask the mechanic if he will pass it or not?---rear shocks are easy to change-you dont even have to remove the wheels----the nuts are 19mm same as wheelnuts--you will need a 24 inch breaker bar + 19mm impact socket---which is a handy thing to keep in your van to undo wheel nuts--

Do you need to jack up the van or does the spring take the weight
I had a shocker come slack on me whilst on holiday, I was out in and under and back in the cab in about 6 mins, If I had wanted to I could have changed the shocker no problem. And I had me holiday gear on.
